Logitech M305- Mouse and Receiver

The other day I decided that I needed to get a wireless mouse for my laptop. I was looking for something cheap, of good quality and easy to use. So I went to a local store to look around and I came across the Logitech ® Wireless Mouse M305.

Now, what caught my eye was that the USB receiver that came with the mouse is about an inch total in length and barely sticks out of the USB port on my laptop! This means that I can leave this receiver plugged into my laptop with less likelihood that it could get caught or bumped, breaking it, or worse, my USB port. The mouse comes in 4 basic colors and 3 different designs.

Inside the mouse you can see how the battery and the reciver fit in the mouse.

The mouse came with one AA battery which I found difficult to install at first.  There is a button that you slide that releases a panel.  This allowed me to insert the AA battery.  The battery went in at an angle and it appears that this will allow for better balance and storage of the receiver for transport.  During transport the receiver can be stored inside the mouse.  This is very handy for because I could easily see myself losing it ;) .  The ergonomic design of the mouse is very comfortable, especially for a portable mouse.  The mouse has an on/off switch and an automatic sleep mode so that you are not wasting you battery life.

After difficulty opening the mouse I was able to insert the battery. I placed the receiver into the USB port on my laptop and it was smooth sailing from there. There were no drivers or special software to install and Windows Vista immediately allowed me to use the mouse. According to Logitech the mouse is supported by Mac, Linux, Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7.

All-in-all, I feel that this mouse is a great value for the price (about $30). I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a quality mouse for traveling with a laptop because of its small size, the ability to store the USB receiver in the mouse securely, and the size of the receiver itself. Don’t forget to pick your favorite color or design.
