Hulu Desktop allows you to stream Hulu videos right to your desktop without visiting Hulu.com. It is compatible with Windows, Linux and Mac OS so everyone is able to use it. It allows three different quality settings to allow you to select the highest video quality while ensuring the video plays without interruption from buffering issues. The program itself allows you to search for content similar to using Hulu.com and works well on a Home Theater Personal Computer (HTPC) since the navigation text is large.

I like seeing someone semi local getting national attentional, but I find it very it sickening to see another one getting away so to speak. I can’t really blame the kid for going to North Carolina who also picked up two more top 20 recruits today. I just hate seeing all the best kids go to programs that really don’t need them, especially when it could mean so much for an in state program.

Sweet Potato Pie

• 4-5 medium sweet potatoes ( peeled and diced)
• 3/4 cup of sugar
• 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
• 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
• 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
• 3 medium eggs
• 1 5oz can (2/3 cup) evaporated milk
• 1/2 cup whole or 2% milk
• 1/8 teaspoon salt
• 1  teaspoon butter or margarine

In large sauce pan, add peeled and diced sweet potatoes. add water till water level is 2 inches above the potatoes.   add a pinch of salt and boil until potatoes are tender.   potatoes will discolor by boiling but it does not effect taste.  Drain and mash potatoes with 1 teaspoon butter until there are no more lumps.  Add sugar, cinnamon,ginger, cloves, nutmeg and 1/8 teaspoon salt.  Mix well.   add eggs and fold into mixture with a fork. Add evaporated milk and whole or 2% milk.  mix well for 2-3 minutes.  Pour in pie shell and bake in 375 degree oven for 25 minutes then rotate pie 90 degrees and bake additional 25 to 30 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean.  Allow to cool for 1 hour then serve.

PIE SHELL

• 1 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
• 1/8 teaspoon salt
• 1/3 cup butter flavor Crisco or shortening
•  3-5 tablespoons water

In a mixing bowl stir together flour and salt. mash in shortening with a fork until pieces are half the size of a dime. Sprinkle with one tablespoon of water at a time until you can form dough into a ball. On a lightly floured surface, flatten dough with hands. Rub flour on a rolling pin and roll dough from center to edge, forming a circle about 12-14 inches in diameter.   wrap pastry around rolling pin by pulling edge of circle over rolling pin and roll up like a hose. Unroll into a 9 inch pie tin.  ease pastry into tin. be careful not to stretch pastry. pinch edge of pastry around the circumference of the pie tin and trim edge. Bake as directed in individual recipe.

With the injury to QB Ricky Stanzi, it seems like most people have given up all hope on the Iowa football team. I say don’t panic just yet. Iowa still has a great chance in any game with one of the nations best defenses and turnover machine. Iowa is first in the nation with 19 interceptions and  Tyler Sash has brought in 6 of those which is good for 3rd in nation. Pat Angerer has amassed 106 tackles which puts him at number 4 in the country. The Hawks play great defense,rarely give up the big play and are playing an Ohio State team that has had difficulties this year and is coming off a brawl with Penn State.

The biggest challenge this coming Saturday will be scoring on offense. Ohio State manhandled Penn State last week which admittedly has a much better offense than Iowa. The injury Stanzi does not help, but I did see some potential in the back-up QB James Vandenberg. Vandenberg has a very strong arm and he will be getting the majority of the reps in practice this week. He went just 9 of 27 last week, but the wind played a huge factor in that with Iowa trying for too many deep balls. If the offensive line can open some holes for RB Brandon Wegher, it will take some pressure off of the passing game.

On defense the biggest threat is the legs of Terelle Pryor. Pryor is not a great passer and tends to lob up the deep balls. Luckily for Iowa, they have 2 of the best ends in the league which I don’t see having a problem containing the scramble. Iowa also has Pat Angerer to make Pryor think twice before taking off for a run or throwing over the middle. The Hawks really just need to keep doing what they have been doing all year it should take care of itself.

As of now I say if it’s a close game I give the edge to Iowa especially with a trip to the Rose Bowl on the line, but if they secondary breaks down it could be a long day.

President Obama is preparing to sign H.R.3548 – Worker, Homeownership, and Business Assistance Act of 2009. The bill will provide $24 billion of assistance for emergency extension of unemployment benefits, extending the first time homebuyer’s tax credit and tax cuts for struggling businesses. For people have exhausted their unemployment benefits, this means an additional 14 weeks of money and 20 weeks in states whose unemployment is over 8.5%.

1 Can of green beans. Fresh/frozen if you like but they must be cooked soft.

1 Half onion, diced

Add 1 Teaspoon bacon grease to frying pan. put on med heat till grease melts.  carefully add green beans as grease will splatter.  Dust with salt, pepper.  Add diced onion and dust with garlic powder. Stir occasionally until beans start to wrinkle and turn brown. Add 1/8 teaspoon of curry powder and cook for 1 min longer.

Serve ASAP.
